Micro Needling Therapy
What is Micro Needling?
The earliest form of micro needling, acupuncture, can trace its roots to the Chinese centuries ago. Nappage, a French skin rejuvenation technique used over the past fifty years, is another form of micro needling where micro incisions are made into the skin placing a drop of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants to replace depleted cellular levels.
The technique of medical micro needling has been shown to increase the remolding of the skin by creating thousands of microscopic channels in the skin, to increase the formation of new tissue by activating the body’s healing cascade. Micro needling platelet rich plasma (PRP) into the dermis would intensify the natural wound cascade because of the high concentration of the patients own growth factors. A method of collagen enhancement therapy utilizing a micro-needling roller to infuse PRP and other formulas into the skin, in combination with a Meso lift (non-surgical lift) of the neck and face to tighten and tone skin, is presented. Results reveal this method to be an effective alternative of collagen enhancement therapy(CEP).
MTS Roller™ is a mesotherapeutic ‘non-ablative’ non-surgical tool that facilitates a procedure that preserves the top layer of skin while inducing the body to produce collagen and elastin. Treatment involves a roller with needles that ranged from shot length (0.2mm) to long length (2.0mm). The clinical version must be administered by a clinician with a mild topical anesthetic. Personal care versions are available from skin care professionals only.
How does it work?
MTS Roller™ uses 200 very fine needles to injure the skin sufficiently enough to stimulate collagen/elastin production. Resulting micro-channels also aid in infusing therapeutic serums for greater penetration and increasing overall efficacy. Clinical studies from Europe, U.S. and South Korea have proven that serum absorption is increased by as much as 1,000 times when applied with the MTS Roller (1). Clinical studies have also shown that treatment with the MTS Roller is more consistent in increasing the thickness of the skin than IPL and other resurfacing treatments(2).
MTS Rollers eliminate all common negative side effects and risks associated with chemical peeling, dermabrasion, and laser-resurfacing. The skin is thicker and ready sooner for additional treatment. Personal MTS models (CR2,CR3) are virtually painless; clinical models (CR5, CR10, CR20, CR30) should be used with a topical anesthetic.
Fast Recuperative Power
There are THREE major advantages for using MTS Roller:
• MTS Rollers are revolutionary. They do the same job that lasers and other ablative methods increasing the production of collagen with minimal damage to the protective layer of the skin.
• MTS Rollers are effective. In fact, just as effective as lasers, IPL, Thermage and other ‘machine-based’ treatments, but at a fraction of the cost to practitioners and patients.
• MTS Rollers are safe. “Non-surgical and non-ablative” means more ‘forgiving’ and skin-friendly treatments. Patients experience little or no pain, downtime, and risk for complications.
The gentle stimulus provided by the MTS Roller is far more “skin friendly” and thus far more effective than many other more invasive and more expensive skin treatments. The MTS Roller leaves the entire epidermal barrier fully intact; microchannels created by 200 precision surgical steel needles seal within hours after application: long enough for new collagen-structures to form within the lower layers of the skin and short enough to allow the patient to resume normal schedules quickly.
The downtime required of various skin therapies depends on the depth of the injury caused to the skin. Microdermabrasion produces very little downtime – a few hours of tingling and redness. But a deep chemical peel can keep you at home on painkillers for as much as 2 weeks.
Dermabrasion and laser resurfacing will leave your skin red and swollen for around ten days, total recuperation can be up to three weeks. Because they are non-ablative, CO2 and Fraxel lasers, Thermage, and IPL treatments do not produce significant downtime, but the claim of ‘no downtime’ is somewhat exaggerated. For instance, some Thermage and CO2 patients develop redness and swelling that may last 2 to 3 days; residual pain may linger for several days.
Risks & Side Effects
The MTS Roller has none of the common risks and offers all of the advantages of the most invasive and most expensive treatments. The needles can only go into the skin so far – that’s why there are six different models. The only variable is for the practitioner to determine which of the rollers to use. Even if he goes too deep, the damage is minimal and not permanent. Moreover, clinical studies have shown that the mesotherapeutic effect of MTS 0.5mm roller outperforms all ablatives treatments (chemical peel, dermabrasion, laser resurfacing) and CO2 laser, Fraxel, and IPL in terms of delivering smoother skin and a long lasting effect.
